Dubai Duty Free famous for the slogan ‘Fly Buy Dubai’ was founded in 1983 and is the largest airport retailer in the world in terms of sales since 2012. In the first year of operation, it recorded first-year sales of US$20 million and has grown into one of the biggest travel retail operator in the world with sales turnover of US$1.85 billion in 2016. This is a paradise of duty-free shopping offering a wide range of cosmetics and perfumes, gold and jewelry, electronics, snuff and alcohol products. They operate at Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport (DXB) and at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). With the opening of Concourse D in February this year, Dubai Duty Free now operates over 34,000 square metre of retail space at Dubai International Airport (DIA). Most stores are located in the departure area, although there is a smaller section of the arrivals.
