RVCA was founded in 1999 by Pat Tenore and Conan Hayes, a professional surfer from Hawaii. Transcending the boundaries of traditional action sports apparel, RVCA is a design-driven lifestyle brand free from passing trends. appearing as a natural on the shelves of boutiques as on those of a local skate shop, RVCA is brought together by a group of like-minded individuals from various subcultures, a collaboration of sorts, a lifestyle within itself. Billabong International Limited purchased RVCA in July 2010. RVCA is a Costa Mesa, California-based clothing company owned by Boardriders. In 2018 Boardriders acquired Billabong International Limited, gaining the Billabong, Element, Von Zipper, RVCA and XCEL brands.
